Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Raline Shah has been appointed as the Special Staff of the Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) for Global Partnerships and Digital Education, on Monday (13/1/2025).
Raline Shah’s appointment is based on Ministerial Decree Number 7/10 January 2025, signed by Menkomdigi Meutya Viada Hafid.
Full name Raline Rahmat Shah, she is an actress and model born on March 4, 1985. Raline rose to fame when she played Riani in the film directed by Rizal Mantovani, 5 cm.
Prior to her film career, Raline started her career in the Puteri Indonesia 2008 beauty pageant. The representative of North Sumatra managed to obtain the title of Favorite Princess.
Aside from the entertainment industry, Raline also served as an Independent Commissioner of AirAsia Indonesia in 2017. Raline was trusted to sit on the board of the low-cost airline based in Malaysia due to her positive image as an artist.
Message from Menkomdigi to Raline Shah
During the inauguration at the Komdigi Office, Menkomdigi Meutya Viada Hafid delivered a special message to Raline.
Meutya advised her to strengthen global partnerships and to carry out digital education.
“I have received many messages from parents, expressing their concerns about how their children are using the internet,” said Menkomdigi.
“So please assist this Ministry with massive education for the public,” Meutya emphasized to Raline.
Menkomdigi emphasized that Raline was chosen because she is an artist, and Komdigi needs the perspective of an artist to enrich the ministry.
She believes that diverse perspectives will make Komdigi richer in implementing ideas.
“So we want to include all perspectives in this office in order to create inclusive policies for everyone,” she said.
“Then, Mrs. Raline was also chosen to strengthen more women in gender matters, so we want to add more women to the Special Staff,” she concluded.
Raline Shah’s Duties as Special Staff of Menkomdigi
After the inauguration, Raline Shah stated that her detailed tasks would be discussed in the next meeting scheduled for today at 12:00 PM WIB.
“There are already some programs abroad to discuss partnerships with private companies abroad and also some governments like Singapore and India. The collaboration is in the field of telecommunications and digital,” said Raline Shah.
She admitted that she did not expect to be appointed for this responsibility, but she is optimistic about her capabilities and believes she can perform her duties well.
“Actually, I did not expect and had no ambition or desire to enter the government. In fact, if I could say, there was no effort yet. But it turns out I was appointed and entrusted with this task. I truly feel that I have a role here, I have the capability here, and I also want to contribute and give my best in my work, which is global partnerships, international relations, and education for the public,” she expressed.
Raline Shah then shared the process of her appointment as the Minister’s Special Staff. She mentioned that she was contacted personally by Meutya Hafid while she was abroad. She was asked when she would be available to meet.
However, Raline Shah happened to be abroad for quite some time, so she offered to communicate online.
“At that time, she [Meutya] gave me some ideas to contact some people abroad to be connected to this ministry. Alhamdulillah, the connection was positive. So she may have seen that I have quite strong connections abroad and have the skills to negotiate and communicate fluently in English,” Raline Shah explained.
Next, Raline Shah and Meutya held several meetings in Jakarta. Because Raline Shah wanted to ensure that she could also give her best and prioritize this position seriously.
“These two roles [global partnership and education] I am very happy about and I am confident that I can perform them well. So I accepted it wholeheartedly and my working hours have been clearly defined. I ask for support from my media friends,” she said.
She also assured that all her work as an artist, model, influencer, will continue as usual.
