Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Recently, WhatsApp released three new features for WhatsApp Business. These new features are intended for consumers and business owners.

Two features, namely Business Calls and Meta Verification, are now available for users in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Meta AI is not yet usable.

Here is an explanation of these three features:

1. Meta Verification

This feature is in the form of a blue checkmark, which means WhatsApp has verified the business account. This increases the credibility of the account.

Another goal is to make it easier for businesses to build connections. For example, by building a WhatsApp Channel that can be easily found.

On the other hand, consumers get a better experience because business owners respond faster. Discovery of businesses is also easier for consumers to find.

2. Business Calls

With the Business Calls feature, consumers can contact businesses and vice versa. However, there is a notification process for business owners as part of privacy protection.

This privacy is important; for example, before a business makes a call, there is a notice here where customers can choose control, whether to allow the business to call, contact, choose not to reply, or okay, can be selected, and then the business can initiate the conversation,” explained Aldo Rambie, Head of Industry, Indonesia, Meta, during a session with the media after the WhatsApp Business Summit Indonesia 2024 in Jakarta, on Thursday (8/22/2024).

“So, direct calls are not possible. This is the difference. It makes interaction between businesses and customers easier, two-way, at scale but also with privacy in mind,” he added.

3. Meta AI

Meta AI will enhance business productivity, such as responding to customers faster, more accurately, and at a larger scale. This eliminates the need to rely on manual methods as before.
